The Reason the DNC Has Concealed their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: An Analysis.

This decision by the DNC to suppress the release of its own post-election analysis on the last presidential race seems remarkable but not surprising. Averse to frank assessments, the Democrats' governing body behaves closer to a publicity machine rather than an electoral entity committed to cultivating local power capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Climate Resistant to Internal Critique

Unwilling to challenge the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the DNC has stayed under the Biden-Harris shadow throughout 2025. Publishing such a report would have indicated whether party leaders truly desire to foster open debate about the missteps that paved the way for the former president to become president again. Yet, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there is little to be learned from the electoral catastrophe from the last cycle.

"Here’s our North Star: does this help us win? Should the answer be negative, it is an unnecessary diversion from what truly matters," a justification reportedly given for withholding the report.

Critical Problems a Report Would Have Explored

A genuine analysis with any value would tackle head-on certain uncomfortable matters. This encompasses:

  • Voter Alienation: The loss among millions of voters that backed the Democratic ticket during the previous election proved pivotal in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • A Decision to Seek Re-election: The unwavering decision of the incumbent to seek re-election, alongside a very late exit, is seen by some as robbing Democratic voters of open primaries.
  • Abandoning Core Democratic Voters: During a time of inflation, the electoral effort is criticized for accommodating powerful financial backers while failing to challenge the impact of profit-seeking.
  • The Foreign Policy Impact: An unwillingness to shift an approach on a major international conflict allegedly caused alienating significant blocs, especially among young people, Arab American communities, Muslim voters.
  • A Decline in Young Voter Support: Polling data indicates a significant decline in Democratic support among young voters.

A History of Evasion

Choosing secrecy is consistent with a recurring tendency of evading uncomfortable facts. This mirrors a dynamic where nearly all elected Democrat in Washington supported an incumbent's insistence on running for re-election right up until a catastrophic televised debate forced a reversal.

Meanwhile, a significant majority of the electorate had been continually telling surveyors of their opposition to that candidate to seek re-election.

Campaign Spending Concerns

A thorough analysis might also probe matters regarding financial allocations, such as how much money went to insider consultants as well as advertising contractors during a campaign which expended a staggering amount during the general election.

A Larger Problem

At its core, the secrecy regarding the analysis highlights a deference toward the established hierarchy who engineered a disastrous national race. The message for the party's base – which includes millions of dedicated activists – is that they cannot be trusted to know the lessons party chiefs have learned from hundreds of interviews based on extensive interviews.

A party incapable to publicly examine its own failings finds it difficult to break free from the cycle that proved so beneficial to the winning candidate.
