The star has handed over the full amount of his £25,000 award cash to the trust for venues, which functions to save the United Kingdom's small concert spaces.

The star was awarded the award on 16 October as his third album his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has chosen to donate the funds to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," said Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Recently, top acts like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.

He also participated, raising over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 small stages across the UK.

The donation helped locations that were facing possible closure due to issues caused by floods, fires and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Some locations were granted funding support in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in big venues helps the local stages, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

He is far from the only musician to give his award funds to charitable organizations.

Back when Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their record Different Class, lead singer the singer declared that the group would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.

During 2002, artist the artist shared her bounty across multiple good causes, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked updated gear," the artist explained to outlets.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the youth organization that developed their act, as well as other independent music bodies.

Also 1994 winners the group donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the condition.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the honor. So our success affected another person's life."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had rescued two local spots in south-east England, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in that area and the other in Bristol were acquired under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is backed by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "shares" in the buildings.
