Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
