Elite Athletes Appeal on Iran to Stop Death Sentence of Boxing Champion
Over two dozen Olympic champions, mentors and other world-class competitors have put their names to a statement urging a stop to the execution of a champion boxer and trainer, who is on death row in Iran.
Escalating Worldwide Condemnation
Amid growing worldwide anger over Iran’s increasing application of capital punishment as a means of repression, the strongly worded statement condemns the authorities's ruling to maintain the death sentence of the athlete.
